education is not limited to the classroom
Traditional classroom learning is limited to the knowledge the teacher has and can access (Queensland Government , 2008). In this digital age it is important for educators to incorporate 'blended learning' into the classroom. Blended learning is a balanced blend of tradition face to face and virtual teaching methods (Queensland Government, 2008). Blended learning focus on creating environments for learning that connects the students with; family, school and the real world.
Students ability to find and then evaluate information and constructed new knowledge is enhanced through connecting with the world outside of the classroom (Queensland Government, 2008). Connecting with the wold can be achieved through different eLearning, blogging and sharing. Students need the knowledge, skills and confidence to make ICT work for them at school, at home, at work and in their communities (ACARA, 2014).
ICT support the rapid communication and representation of knowledge to many different audiences (ACARA, 2014). The YouTube video below was created by The National Environmental Education Foundation. The clip shows a great example of how ICT's can extend learning through the environment both in the classroom and outside of the classroom.
