ICT’s will prepare children for the digital future
Both these images (click on image to enlarge - it will take you to image website) show the history of technology in the classroom. Although the image on the left is for a university, both images represent the shift of technology in education over the past. (for more information on the history of technology in Queensland click here) The images represent how much ICT's have changed education. Technologies have changed dramatically over the past and
will continue to evolve in the future (Queensland Government , 2008).
The Melbourne Declaration on the Educational Goals for Young Australians (MCEETYA 2008) recognises that in a digital age, and with rapid and continuing changes in the ways that people share, use, develop and communicate with ICT, young people need to be highly skilled in its use. The ability of students to use and apply ICT will be key for economic growth and stability in the future (Queensland Government , 2008). Therefore Embedding ICT’s into the learning enables children to prepare for the future. To be a 21st century smart learner children must be able to use a range of online ICT tools (Queensland Government, 2008). |
